Scope

What the commission can include

The experience may include guided navigation, selected viewpoints and controls for examining agreed aspects of the development. Screen-based real-time environments, augmented reality and virtual reality serve different presentation conditions, so the choice of format should follow the intended use.

Project information

Preparing the brief

The brief should identify the project information to be displayed, the areas available for exploration and the devices on which the experience will run. Drawings, models, material references and any proposed configuration options are reviewed together with the expected presentation conditions.

Review

Reviewing the work before delivery

Reviews need to examine navigation, legibility and performance as well as visual accuracy. Testing on the intended equipment helps establish whether a user can move through the project, locate information and return to an earlier view without interrupting the discussion.

Cost and timing

What determines the production requirement

The extent of the environment, the number of interactive states, device requirements and any connection to other systems influence the scope. Ongoing changes to project information and the responsibility for maintaining them should be agreed separately from the initial production work.

Interpreting the presentation

Available controls and device support depend on the implementation; an interaction record also requires careful interpretation because exploring an area does not establish a buyer's reason for doing so.
